Fog in the Valley:

The morning sun shines over a layer of fog filling Valles Marineris on Mars.

Staring Down Ophir:

On the northern side of Valles Marineris lies a cracked and sunken area called Ophir Chasma. The view is looking south over the slumped terrain. Some scientists believe Candor Chasma, way off in the distance, would make an ideal landing site for a human expedition.

Gusev Morning:

Another morning view, here three kilometers over Gusev crater, site of the Mars Exploration Rover "Spirit" landing. Somewhere in the scene, Spirit has been driving about near the smaller crater "Bonneville."

Featured in The Planetary Report and in The Planetary Society's "Wild About Mars" live MER rover event in Pasadena, California, January 3-4, 2004

Outflow:

At some time in the past, floods tore across Mars, resulting in massive drainage channels.Digital elevation data has allowed the creation of this view of the outflow patterns leading to a possible northern sea. The vertical exaggeration is some 20x, revealing an amazing amount of physical detail.
